Your check engine light comes on to tell you that your vehicle needs some kind of attention. Whether it is as small as needing oil, to actually needing a repair from a garage. All you need is this OBD2 scanner and it's software. Just download, then copy to phone. Instructions are included. You simply plug the device into your vehicle's port, connect via bluetooth, and allow it to run its test while your vehicle is running. It checks through the system and lets you know what is going on. But not only does it check your engine light, it monitors O2 sensor readings, throttle, emissions, voltage, etc. Overall, it is just a great item to have for anyone with a vehicle.
